Welcome to The Boardwalk!
Located at One Market Square on the world’s highest tides, the newly revitalized Saint John Boardwalk is one of Canada’s most unique outdoor entertainment spaces.
Framed by the vibrant Port of Saint John and historic brick buildings, The Boardwalk features tidal steps that lead to the Bay of Fundy, an outdoor skating rink, restaurants and bars with cozy four-season patios, lush green spaces, and the city’s flagship stage designed for performances of all sizes.
Just a short walk—indoors or out—from the Hilton and Delta hotels, The Boardwalk is your go-to destination for live entertainment, great food, and unforgettable coastal experiences.
"One of the most iconic public spaces in the city's history."
– Mayor Donna Reardon
Founded in 1785, Saint John is Canada’s first incorporated city—and a city of firsts. It was home to the Country’s first high school, first paved street, and a history rooted in shipbuilding, commerce, and innovation. Nestled on the edge of the Bay of Fundy, The Boardwalk sits at the heart of one of the world’s most spectacular coastal ecosystems, where the tides rise and fall dramatically twice each day—the highest tides in the world. Historically a major trade route and cultural crossroads, this area launched world-famous ships like the Marco Polo, once the fastest vessel on the seas.
The Boardwalk has long been a vibrant stage for unforgettable music and celebrations, and now, with its major redevelopment, it is entering an exciting new era as an even more dynamic place to make memories through performances, lively entertainment, and culinary experiences.
Food + Drink
Fittingly known as “The Gathering Space,” The Boardwalk is the heart of Saint John’s food and drink scene. Whether you’re in the mood for fresh Atlantic seafood, locally crafted beer, elevated cocktails, or a night of dinner and dancing, this is the place to be.

The Stage (Opening Fall 2025)
The centrepiece of the Boardwalk’s redevelopment is its state-of-the-art performance stage, the only one of its kind in Atlantic Canada.
Equipped with a world-class L-Acoustics sound system, this modular stage can expand from 500 to 1,000 square feet and is designed to host over 5,000 concertgoers. It features dual 12-foot LED screens, a professional lighting and video production system, and premium viewing areas.
Concertgoers can enjoy shows from licensed hospitality zones, VIP patio lounges, or even from a boat docked in the harbour—offering a truly unforgettable East Coast concert experience.
